You Can't Cure Somebody Who Has Nothing Wrong With Them

Zero Day has been one of my favorite movies for a long time. Because it manages to capture what it's depicting in the best way I've seen it done yet. The movie is shot as though it's a compilation of the found tapes of two school shooters. Zero Day is sort of what the Basement Tapes would have been. Yes, there's serious discussions present in the film, but most of it is two high school boys having fun. Sure, they casually talk about revenge and their ‘plans,’ but the slow way Zero Day eases you into its topics, and you feel like a frog being boiled. By the end, you feel complicit. You spent so much time with the two main characters, Andre and Calvin; the way Zero Day is filmed makes you feel there. I could talk about this movie for maybe forever… but I didn't think to give myself more time to rant about this movie here, so consider yourself saved this time!!! If what I said sounds interesting to you, then watch the movie. It's free on YouTubee!! (and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TALK TO ME ABOUT IT)

I also wrote a poem inspired by Cal's in the movie. not my best work but oh well

“The gun is the perfect weapon,” he said,
standing between the shores of childhood and a future.
“So much power
for confident fingers.”
“It’s power comes easy, mechanical. Its serious,
practical. Things click into place.” our purpose, our mission.

“But a gun is nothing without its bullet.” I replied,
My parabolic arch decending down.
“The intensity of death
is packed between gunpowder and brass.”

Then there was that time in which you stepped on a
landmine. It was my only option
to not forgive.
Feel the crashing waves
of the only reich i have.
And at your feet, feel my
wasted life.
